Fraud Alert – OKpet.com sells fake Frontline® for cats and dogs

You come home to find Rover or Whiskers scratching fleas.  You know you should get some Frontline® from your local vet, but you just can’t afford it.  But a quick search on the internet delivers several websites with discount products.

OKpet.com is one of those sites.  They advertise Frontline® for a medium dog for only $29 – what a deal!  It seemed to take a long time to get there, and when it finally arrived, you realize why.  You notice it had to go through US customs – 1st red flag.

Upon closer inspection, you will see directions in both English and some backward language – literally, the words go right to left – 2nd red flag.  At this point, you could dowse your pet with the suspect liquid and hope it kills fleas instead of your pet.  Personally, I wouldn’t chance it.  What you have, my friend, is genuinely COUNTERFEIT Frontline®!

Here are the facts, folks:

  1. Frontline does not have an expiration date.  If your Frontline® has an expiration date, then it ain’t Frontline®.
  2. If there are stickers from Africa, Australia or your product was shipped from some other country across the great pond, be suspicious.
  3. Go to http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/factsheets/petproduct.htm, http://frontline.us.merial.com/ or visit your vet for more information.

  1. I RECENTLY ORDERED FRONTLINE PLUS FOR MY DOG. I STILL HAVEN’T RECEIVED IT. WHEN IT DOES ARRIVE AND THE BOX WHAT DID YOU DO ABOUT IT. I AGREE WITH YOU I AM NOT GOING TO PUT SOMETHING ON MY DOG THAT IS SUSPECT. I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU. IF YOU HAVE TIME PLEASE SHOOT ME AN E-MAIL. I TOLD MY HUSBAND WOW A DECENT PRICE FOR ONCE. HA HA ON ME. THANKS PAT

    • I ORDERED FONTLINE FROM OKPET MORE THAN TWO (2) WEEKS AGO AND OTHER THAN AN ORDER TRACKING NUMBER I HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING FROM THEM. I FAILED TO DO DUE DILIGENCE IN ORDERING, BY SEEKING OUT USER COMMENTS ON FRAUD ALERTS, AND I AM NOW IN THE PROCESS OF ATTEMPTING TO DO A CHARGE BACK WITH MY CREDIT CARD. I AM SENDING THESE COMMENTS HOPING TO PREVENT OTHERS FROM MAKING THE MISTAKE I HAVE.

  2. I’ve been waiting a month for my order. I tried to E-Mail OKPET but the E-Mail fails to go through. In the meantime I ordered the product through Amazon.com. I received the authentic product in less than a week at a good price.

  3. I ordered Advantage over a month ago and am still waiting.
Today, for the second time I called them and was told there were difficulties in shipping. They said to call back if I had not received in another week.
I now believe OK PETS is a phony outfit. I’m calling my credit card company to try to get a Charge-back.

  4. This is exactly the information I was looking for. I thought their “okpet” prices were a little too good to be true. So I googled to look for comments like this before handing over my credit card information. So a big thank you to all who submitted their comments to keep me from making a mistake to save a little money.

  5. So you “think” it’s phony cause it has a customs sticker on it and the box has an alternate language than English? For you to accuse this company of this is slander. You have no real evidence that it is a fake product. You should be more careful with your words. Maybe just use the term “suspect” or say, “I would recommend getting it elsewhere”.

    • No “Bill Smith” aka OKPet employee. If you bothered to read the article, the packaging was proven counterfeit from Merial, the manufacturer’s own website. Maybe you should pay more attention when you comment on people’s blogs. My statement stands and your comment is idiotic.

  6. Well their products are considered generics because they come from another country. That is why you do not have to have a prescription, but that does not mean they do not work. I have been using Advantage on my dog for over a year with no problems, and she goes inside and outside year round. I have not seen one flea on her or in the house.

    • Another employee from OKPet.com and another liar. Their products are NOT considered generic. They are shipped in counterfeit boxes with incorrect labeling and are NOT made by the manufacturer that they claim to be. You could put all kinds of deadly chemicals on your pet that will kill fleas. I guess if you hate your pet, that’s your business. Just don’t expect the informed public to do the same!

FWIW, the more you fake posters continue to defend YOUR FAKE product, you cause Google to help others find this information more easily, so keep up the good work, wankers.

  7. I searched for low priced Frontline for cats and found three with discount prices, OKPet.com being the lowest priced. While on their website a “scareware” virus popped up so I did not order through them. Looking at the above comments I’m glad I didn’t. I found Frontline at my local Costco at a price more than OKPet.com but less than the other online shops. Costco wil be my source from now on.

  8. I do not work for OKPet and I have used their Frontline on my 2 well-loved cats for at least 3 years now and they are both healthy, happy and flea-free, so there it is. The proof is in the puddin’.

  9. I have also ordered from them for the past 3 years for all 4 of my dogs. Prices are cheap and never waited more then 2 weeks for my order.

  10. I ordered Frontline Plus for dogs 2 – 22 lbs on 4/16/12 and got the product today 4/25/12. It reads Frontline Combo instead of Frontline Plus and it’s weight is in kgs instead of pounds but I am not skeptical of this. It did go through customs but that’s ok.

    • I too have had no problems with OKPet, and have been purchasing frontline plus for dogs and cats for more than two years. Frontline from the vet here in the US doesn’t work either if you don’t apply it properly! Also, fleas are becoming resistant to it because people haven’t applied it properly, just like with antibiotics. Bottom line- I’ve always found OKPet to be a great company to deal with- they’re cheap, they ship quickly, and I’ve never, ever had a problem with their service OR their products!

      • You and the last few that have commented on this article are liars and affiliated with OKpet.com. The only reason I leave your posts is to demonstrate the fraud that OKpet.com continues to perpetrate on uninformed consumers.

Customers who are satisfied with a product or company don’t Google blogs and then try to counter negative posts. Only a company trying to perpetuate their scam would actively seek out negative blogs and counter them. If the last few comments were actually satisfied customers, they would have no incentive nor would it even occur to them to find blogs to comment on.

My original post stands as factual information. And if it was anything but accurate, OKpet.com would seek legal damages against me rather than pose as satisfied customers and post on my blog. I have no fear of this happening since all my documentation is in order.

  11. Maybe they stock the real thing and their own product. I ordered from them and got what appeared to be the real Frontline Plus for the cat. So far, good results. So maybe they send out randomly the real product as well as their own product. How else would they be getting mixed reviews, assuming the positive reports are not bogus. But here’s the rub: i tried to reorder today and their website is down for “undergoing maintenance”…. and there are other alerts I noticed, too. Well, so much for that company.

  12. i have ordered from them for rottweller i have a kennel , none have died yet all great health, would not buy any were else, also use cat fronline works great ,people should try before they judge, always great service, sure takes few weeks for delivery but look what ya save, dont work for them live in fordyce ar ,most people on hear complaing are vets most likely

    • Just because your pets didn’t die, doesn’t mean you aren’t getting fake product that doesn’t work. In fact, when was the last time you purchased from them? They were shutdown months ago, and I see they are shutdown right now.

  13. This page was at the top of my google search just now. I was searching for okpet website to buy from them again. I am shocked to see this “article”, since my personal experience with okpet has always been the opposite of what this “article” claims. I DO NOT work for the company. I have been buying okpets generic products for several years because I had rescued a lot of pets and needed to keep their cost of care down. I’ve used their products on 10 dogs and 7 cats over the years. I’ve never had side effects or health issues with my animals, on the contrary, they have all lived to disgustingly old ages (16 and up, even a couple large breed dogs). These products have always been effective against fleas and ticks. My animals have never had fleas. I’ve seen ticks on the dogs but they appear to have bitten the animal then dried up and died, which is what is supposed to happen. I’M SURE the ok pet company is all SCREWED UP because of this “article” and nasty comments that are turning customers away. CONGRATULATIONS you on F***ing up a good thing. You have managed to disrupt the generic pipeline for all us HAPPY customers. WHY couldn’t you leave it alone?? I AM CONVINCED THAT YOU WORK FOR FRONTLINE. Also, NEVER had a problem receiving my products on time, and their customer service is very friendly also. They did mess up my order once- I called and they immediately sent the correct product, then TRUSTED me to send the extra product back at their expense. I feel guilty because I suck, yes I forgot to send it back, they ate the cost of the product, I kept it for free. What company does that nowadays?? trusts customers. That is why I am writing this, I feel I owe them. They have ALWAYS been honest, fast, great products. I’m sorry okpet that I forgot to return the extra cat flea stuff 😦

  14. A fake or counterfeit product might kill the fleas and not kill your cat, but it’s not the success stories that are the measure, it is the failures. If something kills one in 50 cats, you will find 49 people telling you the product is OK. If they incorrectly process 10 of 50 orders, you still have 40 people telling you that they are good.

  15. I use Frontline Combo for my cats (3) I get it from Canadian vet. It works great and is much cheaper. Difference is it comes from UK or overseas…I was paying a lot of money for flea products for 3 cats and 2 dogs..I save a whole lot with the combo (IOnly difference I can see is a little less liquid amount in ampule. Used for 4 years so far
